Creativity wanted

Do you want to be a part of this years unique atmosphere at Uprising? Now, you have a chance to visit the festival and share your artistic skills and experience with the others.

As each year, there will be the Streetart performance, that you can attend. Painting, spraying, drawing or any other technique can be used on the prepared wooden walls. If you want to join the group of our artists, simply send some short info about you and your works to: info[at]uprising.sk ( subject: Uprising Streetart ), add max. 3 pics of your own production or link, to see it.

Deadline is on 13. August 2010. After this date, special jury will choose the best ones, that will get the festival permit and material to realise their production.

Before our own Uprising releases, we bring you the works of three slovak selektas - Adham of Riddim Tuffa Sound, Kayaman of One-Off Rockers Sound and Dj MeSs of Ghetto Youths Sound. Special reggae vibes just for you.

Adham is a UK scene specialist and with his mix he brings the music of festival's MUNGO'S STAGE. Kayaman brings back the good old hits and riddims, that every reggae addict should know about and Dj MeSs presents minimix dedicated to controversial topic. Enjoy it.

Rare addition to our line-up

Festival Uprising is basically focused on reggae, dub, and dancehall, but we always add some flavor of hip-hop and similar genres. This year, we enrich the program with Afu-Ra, cult MC from New York.

Afu-Ra sa prvýkrát objavil ako hosť na dvoch albumoch legendárneho rapera Jeru the Damaja, ale už viac ako desať rokov je to on, u ktorého hosťujú – okrem iných napríklad Guru, GZA, M.O.P., Gentleman, Masta Killa, Ky-Mani Marley, RZA, Big Daddy Kane alebo RZA. Pracuje s prominentnými producentmi ako Muggs, True Master, Needlez, či Ayatollah, ale ako dlhoročný člen Gang Starr Foundation predovšetkým s DJ Premierom. Na Slovensko nepríde prvýkrát – a všetci očití svedkovia potvrdia že má parádne show.

Ďalší headliner festivalu

Do zoznamu vystupujúcich tento týždeň pribudla rastafariánska legenda Jah Mason. Jamajský spevák a MC príde aj so živou doprovodnou kapelou House of Riddim.

Jah Mason je velikánom jamajskej reggae scény. Nahrávať začal pred dvadsiatimi rokmi s producentom Junior Reidom, ešte pod umeleckým pseudonymom Perry Mason. K tomuto menu sa dostal už ako dieťa – susedia ho začali volať podľa slávneho literárneho právnika vďaka jeho schopnosti vyargumentovať temer všetko. Mason sa pôvodne volá Andre Johnson, a pochádza zo štvrte Manchester Parish.
