Electro-swing star Parov Stelar will shine at the Uprising festival
If you’ve been hesitating to attend this year’s Uprising festival, here’s another reason why you shouldn’t miss Zlaté piesky in Bratislava on August 25 and 26. The main star of prestigious festivals such as Coachella, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, Frequency, and Sziget will now come with his band to demonstrate his masterful art at the Uprising festival. On six music stages, festival-goers will be able to enjoy almost 100 excellent live performances by artists from all over the world and from almost every genre. The program published so far indicates that the 16th year will be among the strongest. This is also confirmed by other famous names such as the iconic rapper and godfather of grime music Dizzee Rascal, who holds the Mercury Prize, or the Grammy-awarded phenomenal reggae band Steel Pulse, as well as Barrington Levy, one of the most important singers in Jamaican history, or another native of Jamaica, a popular hitmaker. Hip-hop enthusiasts can also look forward to Brooklyn legend Jeru the Damaja, whose album ‘The Sun Rises in the East’ is included in the top 100 hip-hop albums of all time. Fans of electronic music and drum&bass, represented by Camo & Krooked, Ed Rush, Optical, Audio, The Bug, and jungle veteran Congo Natty, will definitely find their way.
The Uprising festival on Zlaté piesky will bring important names from the domestic Czech and Slovak scene as well, which will be represented again after six long years by the band Para, for the first time the legend of Slovak punk Slobodná Európa will perform at the Uprising, exceptionally together with the original line-up the legendary hip -hop group A.M.O., Medial Banana, Gleb, Smack One, 58G, Idea, Porsche Boy and many others will also be present.
The main star of Marcus Fuereder, known under the stage name Parov Stelar, probably does not need a special introduction to our people. In Slovakia, it already filled the NTC, or Pasienky sports hall, in the past. His songs and videos have hundreds of millions of listens and views. Parov Stelar is a 10-time winner of the Amadeus music award (7x best electronic/dance music, 2x best live concert and 1x best album). In addition to various European chart toppers, The Sun and Brass Devil reached number one on the US iTunes electronic chart. He also earned “Gold Awards” for the track All Night and for the albums The Princess, The Art of Sampling, The Demon Diaries and The Burning Spider. He has collaborated with artists such as Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey, Lukas Graham, Marvin Gaye and many others.
